How to use Bandwidth Throttle?

I messing with the Bandwidth Throttle Configuration in Apache Managing and am wonder what the measurement is. I have a big file that I want to put up for download, but don't want the server to be bogged down by the requests.

It has a box for setting a limit, but what number should I put here?

The measure is actually rate. (k = kilobytes per second, m = megabytes per second, etc...)
